On his recent constituency day, Sir Geoffrey again visited Appledore Shipyard, following Navantia UK's takeover of Harland & Wolff, to meet the yard's senior leadership team and the company's CEO, Juan de la Cueva.
He received a positive update regarding the yard's future, in terms of the financial outlook and the potential projects Navantia want to see Appledore participate in, with the main objective being a continuous workload of constructing small naval vessels.
Appledore's next big project, the Fleet Solid Support ship (FSS) which starts in the Autumn, will see the yard participate in building three new Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels to support the Royal Navy in operations around the globe!
