Sir Geoffrey Cox today attended and spoke in the Westminster Hall Debate, brought forward by Bradley Thomas, regarding the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme. This scheme provides grants that cover the VAT on repairs over £1000 for listed places of worship, and is currently funded until March 2025. Within his speech Sir Geoffrey raised concerns about the sustainability local parish churches and how often they are overlooked yet an important part of local heritage and identity.

Sir Geoffrey knows that these places of worship often form the centrepiece of local communities and with a number of local churches across Torridge and Tavistock struggling to remain in use he is keen to see innovative new ways in which the space can be used and preserved alongside our major cathedrals.
