Sir Geoffrey recently met with local business owners down on the seafront at Westward Ho! to discuss the ever present problem of flood and sea defences. Having met representatives of the Environment Agency and Torridge District Council along with local Councillors, it was agreed that the problem is indeed worsening. Money has been provided to install a temporary solution of heavy metal piles driven into the sand to mitigate the damage caused by storm surges, however, what is needed is a permanent sea defence, and all parties agreed to make progress towards that objective.
