Last week, Sir Geoffrey attended the ground breaking ceremony of the new Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre, marking the official start of construction on a major project that will place Torridge at the forefront of clean maritime innovation and green technology.
The project is part of the Levelling Up Partnership (now renamed the Community Regeneration Partnership), which was awarded to Torridge by the last Government to bring much-needed investment into communities that have been overlooked for too long.
The £15.6 million invested by the Government in this centre, along with further funding allocated to projects such as the Holsworthy Agri-Business Hub, Bideford’s Pannier Market, Business Park and Hospital and the Globe and Hatchmoor Industrial Estate in Torrington, will help to unlock new opportunities for our young people and drive growth across the local economy.
