Geoffrey Cox, MP for Torridge & West Devon has recently been contacted by members of the Co-operative, Cornwall Farmers, which currently has a store in Holsworthy. Members and staff of the local co-operative were sent a letter towards the end of April from the Board of Directors, in which they were told 3 stores (Liskeard, Launceston and Holsworthy) out of a total 17 are under consideration for closure.
The MP has contacted the Chief Executive of Cornwall Farmers to request a meeting to raise the concerns of local farmers, members, and staff, and to discuss whether there might be an alternative option to avoid closure.
Geoffrey Cox said "While I understand these are very difficult times for both business and agriculture, and unfavourable decisions sometimes have to be made, I hope that by having a meeting with the Chief Executive I can at least put forward the views of local farmers, members, and staff before a final decision is made. I have been asked by local constituents to take up the issue and will certainly do whatever I can to put the case for its continued presence in Holsworthy".
