Cox wants to see energy bills cut across Devon
17th January 2012
Geoffrey Cox, MP for Torridge and West Devon, has today welcomed the Government’s Big Energy Week initiative to help people save significant amounts of money on their energy bills.
Big Energy Week is a Government sponsored campaign coordinated by Citizens Advice to help consumers find ways of cutting their energy bills this winter.
Mr Cox said, ‘Across Torridge and West Devon, people have to find ways more innovative ways to make ends meet. The Big Energy Week is an opportunity for consumers review their energy usage and find ways to save money. The government wants people to use less energy and pay less for it.
Many people are unaware that making simple changes like switching your energy provider, insuring that you house is insulated and turning off appliances when you are using them, can save households as much as £200 a year.”
Mr Cox has been campaigning to make it easier to switch energy suppliers and to ensure that energy companies make clear the cost per unit of energy in full.
Mr Cox has urged constituents to call the free phone number set up to offer free independent energy advice on 0800 320 2000 or visit the Big Energy Week website (www.bigenergyweek.org.uk) to find out how to cut their bills.
